The Journey Of The River Avon

February 27, 2019

Explore the journey of River Avon as it winds its way through the English countryside, its dew covered banks and the quintessential towns that is passes through providing the inspiration behind this sparkling woody green fragrance.

Bradford-on-Avon-CreditAfter beginning its life in Malmesbury, on the edge of the Cotswolds, the River Avon meanders through the picturesque market town of Bradford-upon-Avon. Edward Bodenham was inspired by walking along the banks of the river, saying "it’s a part of the world that for me encapsulates a huge amount of the beauty of our country.

Warleigh Weir is a tranquil spot for wild swimming in the River Avon. Floris perfumer, Penny Ellis, is a keen river swimmer, who has swum sections of the Avon during the colder months which gave her huge inspiration when working with Edward Bodenham on the scent of our River Dawn fragrance.

The River Avon widens as it passes through Bath, a city renowned for its Georgian architecture and honey coloured buildings. Take to the river for the best views of the city or sit back and relax in the natural hot springs, finishing with a stay at The Royal Crescent Hotel for a piece of Floris luxury.

As the River Avon comes close to the end of its journey, it passes under the Clifton Suspension Bridge on the edge of Bristol city. Best seen at first light as the morning fog slowly lifts to reveal the stunning piece of engineering that reaches across the steep edges of the Avon Gorge.

With only 200 limited edition bottles made and hand-poured here in London, our River Dawn Eau de Parfum captures the quintessentially English springtime fragrance that is inspired by the journey of the River Avon.
