The Islay Eau de Parfum represents a collaboration between Floris, the esteemed British perfume house, and Kilchoman, Islay's first new distillery in over a century. This unisex scent pays tribute to the flora of the romantic and isolated Islay, as well as to the exceptional whisky crafted by the Kilchoman family on the island since 2005.

Paying homage to the flora of the Scottish Island of Islay and to the wonderful whisky that has been produced on the island since the 1300s. Inspired by the tasting notes and deep flavours of the rich amber liquor, as well as the island itself, known as "The Queen of the Hebrides.” Islay is a celebration of the time-honoured ritual of appreciating the deep complex flavours and subtle nuances of whisky.

After becoming interested in a particular Cade oil, also known as Prickly Juniper, Edward Bodenham, 9th generation of British family perfumers Floris, set out to create a fragrance based around this peaty, dry note. Deciding to focus on a scent that conjured up the finest peaty, smoky whiskies.

This exploration led to, ‘Islay’ Eau de Parfum. Allowing Edward full access to the creation process of Kilchoman’s now famed whisky collection created the perfect backdrop to develop a unique and authentic fragrance.

Edward travelled to Kilchoman distillery, a family-owned distillery located on the Island of Islay to fully immerse himself in the process of the ancient art of whisky making. As one of the nine distilleries on the island, this unique location is the perfect backdrop to blend the art forms of perfumery and distillation of fine whisky. The collaboration of Floris and Kilchoman is a nod to the trend of contemporary whisky drinking.

In the atmospheric Inner Hebrides of Scotland is Islay, where the wind swirls across the rugged peaty shrublands and the refreshing sea spray dances across the barley fields, lies the beautiful remote island of Islay. With its stunning scenery, rich cultural history, and world-renowned whisky distilleries, producing a wealth of flavours appreciated around the world, Islay served as the perfect inspiration for the new Floris scent.

Earthy green top notes of galbanum recall the wild, windswept gorse hedgerows of Islay complimented by bergamot, highlighting the initial citrus character found in many of Islay’s whisky blends. Orris adds a smooth and soft floral note whilst adding balance to the rich, rugged peaty and smoky accord of prickly juniper oil and patchouli. Finally, just a subtle hint of vanilla with warm comforting musk in the base of the fragrance imbue a reassuring outro to the scent.

The freshness of new leather complements the smoky aspects of the oud oil and geranium at the heart.

Known for its smoothness, the formula strikes the perfect balance between rich rose, golden English honey, and deep notes of oud oil.

Contemporary and dark with a confident intensity that places the rose with notes of spice, orris and woods, taking the wearer on an altogether diverse journey of romance.
